The French racing saga: a 600 m2 display to celebrate Formula 1’s return to the show.

Ahead of the first Grand Prix of 2025, which will be kicking off on 14 March in Australia, Rétromobile is giving fans the opportunity to discover a 600 m2 display retracing nearly 60 years of the history of Formula 1 through 16 cars with a close or distant link with France. In parallel to this unprecedented
exhibition, a live stage will feature emblematic characters of Formula 1 – drivers, team managers, mechanics, preparers, journalists and photographers – who will relate their experiences.

An immersion in the history of French Formula 1

At Rétromobile 2025 in Pavilion 2, motorsports fans will be able to discover one of the not-to-miss exhibitions of this new edition: “French Formula 1 from the 60s to the present day”. This exhibition will offer a journey through six decades of innovation and competition. Through the cars on display, visitors will discover the role of France in the history
of Formula 1.

Among the models displayed are icons such as the Matra MS 80, World Champion in 1969, and the 1979
Renault RS 10, the first Formula 1 with a turbocharged engine to win a Grand Prix. Visitors will also be able to admire the 1988 Ligier JS31, the Williams Renault FW19, World Championship winner in 1997 with Jacques Villeneuve, and the 1995 Benetton Renault, with which Michael Schumacher won his first world title.

Each car will tell a story: that of French teams such as Ligier, Matra, Prost Grand Prix and Renault; the story
of the feats of French drivers like Alain Prost, Jean Alesi, René Arnoux and Jean-Pierre Jabouill; and the story of French engine manufacturers like Renault and Peugeot. This retrospective illustrates the lasting impact of France on the development of the Formula 1, in terms of both sport and technology.

Prestigious participants

In addition to discovering exceptional cars, Rétromobile 2025 will offer an immersive experience through a series of talks on the brand new live stage
at the heart of the exhibition. Over the space of five days, major French Formula 1 players will share their experiences and their memories of the heyday of Formula 1. These include Olivier Panis with his 158 Grand Prix starts; Jacques Laffite, winner of six races; Jean Alesi, who took part in 201 Formula 1 races; Jean-Éric Vergne, with 58 Formula races and currently a Formula E driver at DS; René Arnoux, seven times Formula 1 winner, and many others to be announced in the weeks to come.

The media world will also be spotlighted, with Julien Fébreau, Formula 1 commentator on Canal+, and Lucas Pueyo, a content creator with a strong following for his platform “Lucas Parle F1”. Together, they will decode the evolution of Formula 1 and the impact of new technologies on the way this sport is experienced. These diverse accounts will enrich the dialogue between fans, experts and visitors.
