At Comexposium, we are committed to more responsible events. By bringing together communities in the same space and the same time frame, our events make it possible to pool meetings and avoid the impact of isolated trips. However, our environmental impact remains significant. This is why we strive to reduce it by working with the players in our ecosystem (decorators, caterers, equipment manufacturers, exhibition centers, etc.) and by taking into account the constraints of the places and territories in which we operate.

Optimize the environmental impact of our events

  • Our events are designed according to the 4R logic (refuse/reduce/reuse/recycle) leading us to make decisions that limit their impact; such as the reduction or removal of carpets in common areas.
  • We are also working to pool the scenography and decorative arrangements as soon as possible; let’s favor non-vintage signage, reusable from one edition to another, and limit the printing of visitor aid documents.
  • For certain events, we follow a benchmark of CSR commitments. This framework can be co-constructed with our partners and give rise to a tailor-made charter of commitments, as on INTERMAT or One to One B.Better, or resulting from a labeling process. Since 2023, the Group has certified four LEAD events (Label Event with Sustainable Ambition) including the first one-to-one event labeled LEAD Gold in France.
  • We have developed a responsible purchasing charter and favor service providers using reuse, pooling and anti-waste solutions.
  • The environmental impact of our events being linked to the impact of our exhibitors and visitors, we also strive to promote responsible participation through the dissemination of eco-gestures and good practices.
  • Each event has its specificities, we also adapt our approach to each show. For example, at Wine Paris Vinexpo Paris, Vinexposium has implemented an effective action plan:
    • +100,000 glass bottles collected and cleaned
    • +18,000 liters of alcoholic beverages distilled into biofuel
    • +35,000 corks collected, transformed into insulators
    • Recycling of residual PVC, carpet and plywood banner surfaces.
  • We are also committed to combating food waste. The voluntary contribution points for exhibitors at the Paris Fair or donations to the Food Bank at the Agricultural Show bear witness to this.

Measure & reduce the carbon impact of the group and our activities

  • Comexposium is committed in 2022 to “Net Zero Carbon Events 2050”, an international initiative led by the UFI (Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) and supported by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This initiative aims to bring together all stakeholders in the events sector around one objective: reduce the overall carbon footprint of events and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
  • In this context, Comexposium has embarked on a process of estimating the carbon footprint of its events, also integrating the travel of its visitors and the arrangements of exhibitors. In 2023, nearly 70 events operated by Comexposium SAS and DG CONSULTANTS have been estimated.
  • In a process of continuous improvement, and based on the first lessons from these carbon assessments, Comexposium defined reduction actions.
  • Thus, in the One to One format, a turnkey format, where Comexposium is able to manage direct reduction actions, One to One Biarritz has reduced its carbon emissions by more than 40% in the space of one edition, by favoring the train versus the plane for its guests and by carrying out reduction actions on the facilities.
  • In the trade show format, where indirect emissions from participants and exhibitors represent 70 to 90% of carbon emissions, Comexposium carries out awareness-raising actions among the various stakeholders.

Act and innovate with event stakeholders for the responsible transformation of the sector

  • Among the world leaders in events, Comexposium is responsible for driving a collective dynamic for responsible events.
  • Through the UFI (Global Association of the Exhibition Industry), the Group is committed to the “Net Zero Carbon Events 2050” initiative.
  • In France, within UNIMEV, the Group signed the Green Growth Commitment, supported by UNIMEV in partnership with the Ministry of Ecological Transition in favor of the circular economy. This commitment aims to minimize the resources mobilized and the reduction of event waste, as well as to facilitate systems for reusing, repurposing and recycling materials.
  • Active within the CSR Commissions for events, Comexposium also participated in 2023 via UNIMEV in the work of revising the ISO 20121 standard, adapted to events.
  • Finally, we challenge our partners and service providers on their CSR commitments and co-construct with them solutions with a positive impact. We are also experimenting with new collaborations with companies committed to responsible approaches.

Offer accessible and supportive events

  • We facilitate the accessibility of our events to people with disabilities, firstly in the choice of suitable and accessible venues and exhibition centers, but also in the implementation of additional actions such as the loan of chairs. rolling or dedicated support or even free access for certain events for people with disabilities.
  • Depending on the objectives of each event, we also support solidarity actions such as “Les Restos du Cœur” at Foire de Paris or “Rêves d’Enfants” at Le Mondial du Tourisme.
  • Accessibility also means promoting access to our events for people looking for work. Thus, at several exhibitions, Comexposium practices a pricing policy adapted to student populations and offers dedicated visits in partnership with specialized schools.
We adopt a co-creation approach with our suppliers. We work with many professionals in the event industry, whose job is to adapt to new challenges. By comparing our ideas, technical constraints, business logic and CSR ambitions, we foster shared learning and growth.
